Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is known for being one of the best resorts within Disney Vacation Club. And the future looks brighter. Disney World has announced a NEW Polynesian DVC tower. They are constructing this new tower in a prime location on the shores of Seven Seas Lagoon. This tower will not only offer breathtaking views but also provide convenient access to Magic Kingdom through the monorail line. The proposed project will be replacing Disney’s Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show, a popular luau that featured traditional Polynesian dances, live music, and a delightful tropical feast. Unfortunately, the Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show has permanently closed. Nonetheless, the upcoming Disney Vacation Club tower promises to be an exciting addition to the magical experience offered at Walt Disney World Resort. Let’s take a sneak peek into what you can expect.
New DVC Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Construction at the new DVC tower at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is underway and owners are super excited to see what Disney has in store. So far DVC has said that the proposed plans for the new tower will include a variety of guest room types, new dining options, and new recreation offerings.
“It’s no secret that our Members and Guests love the monorail resorts at Walt Disney World,” said Bill Diercksen, senior vice president and general manager of Disney Vacation Club. “Expanding our Disney Vacation Club offerings at the Polynesian would give our Members and Guests yet another incredible option for staying close to the magic while making vacation memories that last a lifetime.”
According to Disney, the new tower is “inspired by the early concepts for Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.” Early concept art showed a 12-story tower, similar to something you would find on Waikiki Beach.
Currently, it appears that the new expansion will have at least 10 floors. This means it will tower above the other two-story buildings. Disney has done the same thing at its Coronado Springs Resort with the Gran Destino Tower. In the concept art of the new building, there is no rooftop restaurant or dining options, instead, it appears to be a large suite.
Construction Update September 2023
The new DVC tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villa Resort is currently being built and things seem to be moving quickly at the construction site.
Standing at about 5-6 stories high currently, it showcases the progress that has been made at the construction site. The crane on-site is helping construction workers lift heavy concrete slabs into place.
To ensure stability during this phase of construction, diagonal poles have been strategically placed to support the walls until the building is complete.
In addition to the walls, progress has also been made on the new wing of the building. Balcony dividers and floors have already been installed around the window openings in this section. These dividers not only add aesthetic appeal but also provide safety and functionality to the balconies.
Moving further up the Disney Vacation Club tower, there are balcony divider frames for nearly every set of windows and door.
Although there is still work to be done, the construction of this building is well underway. More information and details about the project will be shared in the future, according to DVC. Our blogs are up to date on Walt Disney World News, so stay tuned for project details and any construction updates.
When Will the New DVC Tower at the Polynesian Be Complete?
The Polynesian Village Resort at Walt Disney World is set to undergo an exciting expansion with the addition of a new Disney Vacation Club tower. The proposed tower is currently scheduled to open in late 2024, offering guests a unique and immersive experience.
The Polynesian Villa Resort tower will overlook Disney’s Magic Kingdom and Seven Seas Lagoon. As of now, construction sights and sounds will surround Disney’s Wedding Pavilion and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.
This new addition will provide even more options for visitors to enjoy their stay at the resort and create lasting memories with their friends and family.
Disney’s Polynesian Villas Resort & Bungalows: Existing Resort
The Polynesian Village Resort itself is known for its stunning theming, inspired by the enchanting spirit of the South Pacific. With its lush tropical landscaping, a serene lake, and captivating architecture, the resort creates a truly immersive and relaxing atmosphere.
The new Polynesian Resort DVC Tower is part of a massive renovation at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort that has seen the rooms refurbished, the lobby area re-designed, the new porte cochère, a brand new Monorail station, and the Kona Cafe remodeled.
Disney Vacation Club Studios received only refurbishment of their soft goods, such as upholstery, artwork, and accompanying accessories, rather than its standard rooms which were given “Moana” theming.
Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows currently has 380 existing DVC rooms in Walt Disney World, including the largest Deluxe Studios and the exclusive Bora Bora Bungalows which overlook the Seven Seas Lagoon.
The new Polynesian tower will add more options for DVC owners.
Why Choose Polynesian Village Resort as Your Walt Disney World Home Resort
If there is one thing you can hold Disney accountable for it is that each resort will nail its theme. This Disney Vacation Club resort is no different. From amenities to dining options to accommodations, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort does not disappoint.
There is a giant volcano at the Lava Pool, a waterfall, and a thrilling 142-foot-long water slide. A lush garden surrounds the Oasis Pool, which offers a more peaceful swimming experience. You can also relax by the pool on an Oasis Patio, where you can recline in a private shaded area. For some friendly competition, head to the sand volleyball courts. Or, go to the spa for some relaxation.
There are five restaurants and plenty of bars at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. At Captain Cook’s, you’ll find American classics like cheeseburgers and chicken wings. In addition, you will also find some Asian staples like Thai coconut meatballs and pan-Asian noodles. Also, Kona Cafe is home to a sushi kitchen onstage and tons of specialty cocktails.
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort guests are likely to visit the parks at some point during their stay. There’s good news for you! A major strength of the DVC brand is its ease of access to Disney World. Disney Polynesian Resort and the new DVC tower are only a monorail ride away from the Magic Kingdom. The monorail system makes it easy to transfer to Epcot as well.
