Per the owner:
We love the Pono Kai. We took over ownership from my step mom. We have
stayed at the Pono Kai many times with her and on our own.
The Pono Kai is a property with a “old Hawaii” charm. It is well
maintained and in a perfect location. Its central location on Kauai makes
it easy to get to Poipu, Lahui (Costco/ airport) or Hanalei.
Right on the beach and bike trial, it is walking distance to shops and
restaurants. There is a bike rental place right next door where you can
rent bikes for $10.00 per day. The bike path is built on the old
pineapple train route and goes north along the coast for 8 miles and is
very popular for walking and biking.
Pono Kai is right in the heart of Kapaa. The first Saturday of every
month they have a street fair with crafts, local food and music. You can
walk and bike everywhere in Kapaa and do not need a car.
The buildings are spaced far from each other with lush lawns and BBQ’s.
There is a nice pool, beautiful tropical gardens, tennis courts and a
fabulous Koi pond. The staff is friendly and helpful. You can upgrade
your stay to a 2 bedroom ocean front for $75.00 a night.
Just writing this makes me want to go there. We live in Baja now and
never use it.
